People

A person is one human record in the system. It can be used as player, coach, referee or staff member.

When to create a person

Create a person if they should be used:

• in a team roster;
• as a referee;
• as team staff;
• in statistics;
• in match events;
• in a public frontend profile.

Creating a person

Open:

Components → JoomLeague → People → New

Recommended fields:

• first name;
• last name;
• nickname if used;
• date of birth;
• birthplace;
• nationality;
• photo;
• email;
• website;
• notes.

For a normal competition, first name and last name are usually enough.

Privacy and frontend visibility

Before publishing personal data, check whether:

• the person should be visible publicly;
• the photo should be shown;
• personal details should be shown;
• team data should be shown.

For youth competitions, keep personal data limited.

Players

A person becomes a player only after being assigned to a team or roster.

Do not create the same person multiple times for different seasons.

Referees

A referee is also a person. To use them in a project:

1. create the person;
2. open the project;
3. open Referees;
4. assign the person as a project referee.

Photos

Photos are selected through Joomla Media Manager.

Use reasonable image sizes and filenames without spaces or special characters.
